 Our client, a leading reinsurance company is hiring a Cisco Network Engineer (Senior Network Engineer 1) on a long-term contract basis.

Work Location:

Warren, NJ (Hybrid onsite)


Apply a comprehensive understanding of Cisco networking technologies and concepts with a focus on switches and wireless. This includes a basic understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and network monitoring and management.  Experience with upgrading, patching and maintaining Cisco network infrastructure.  Ability to effectively collaborate with team members on larger projects and broader issues.


  • Maximize network performance by optimizing network configuration, troubleshooting network issues and outages, perform hardware and software upgrades, maintaining high security standards, and properly documenting all procedures
  • Maintain and upgrade the existing Cisco wireless networking infrastructure
  • Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Switching Platforms (C9400 Chassis, N9K, N3K)
  • Daily activities would include:
  • Track, update, document and resolve all assigned incidents and change tickets via ServiceNow ensuring solutions and support meet proper SLA
  • Coordinates with other departments in order to understand and meet their requirements
  • Troubleshoot network problems, schedule upgrades, network hardware refresh projects, and perform network analysis and optimization
  • Provide escalation support of network infrastructure issues reported to the network group and follow up as necessary
  • Manage day-to-day calls and tickets for various engineering and troubleshooting tasks
  • Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required
  • Maintain basic Infoblox networking equipment
  • Supporting F5 projects and general maintenance
  • Manage co-location and disaster recovery facilities

Required Qualifications:

  • 4 years of working experience in a Cisco networking environment required
  • Experience proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, analyzing and resolving Cisco hardware and software related issues required
  • Experience with Cisco enterprise switching platforms (Preferably C9400 Chassis, N9K, N3K)
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Wireless IOS-XE and AireOS Platforms (WLC: 98xx, 5508, 3504, 2504 AP: 91xx, 28xx)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Cisco networking technologies and protocols
  • Experience with the following network protocols: VxLAN, BGP, OSPF, CAPWAP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Significant experience of Layer 2 switching protocols (STP, HSRP, VLAN, etc.)
  • Experience working with the following network management platforms: SolarWinds NCM and Orion, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Prime, Cisco CSPC, Cisco SSM
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy required
  • Proficient verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate in the English language required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CCNP or other Cisco Networking Certification preferred
  • Palo Alto and private cloud support preferred
  • BigIP F5 LTM support experience preferred
Pay Range: $65-$80/ hour
