Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company, is hiring a Commercial Accessibility Manager on a contract basis.

Summary:

An Accessibility Manager is typically a member of an enterprises Central Accessibility Team (CAT), responsible for ensuring that accessibility considerations are ingrained in all company processes and developments. An Accessibility Manager can also be a member of an individual team or line of business, acting as the resource for that team or line of business to go to with questions and concerns regarding accessibility.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

 

• Be a champion for accessibility within the organization

• Provide subject matter expertise in accessibility, assistive technology, and universal design

• Establish relationships with key stakeholders in all areas of the business including technology, legal & compliance, purchasing, etc.

• Integrate accessibility WCAG compliance into the organization through process, procedure, governance (policy), and services/tools

• Contribute to program documentation/guidelines and reference materials for enterprise use

• Collaborate with designers, developers, quality assurance specialists to enable and execute accessible content to user interfaces for websites, mobile apps, and other electronic materials

• Evaluate the current state of accessibility in the enterprise and provide a roadmap for maturation

• Coordinate pre-production accessibility gate checks

• Coordinate evaluation and remediation of post-production assets

• Answer questions on implementing specific program requirements, services/tools, and general topic areas around accessibility

 

Qualifications Required

 

The following are typically viewed as requirements for any person in consideration for an Accessibility Manager role:

 

• 5 years of professional experience in digital accessibility

• Knowledge of WCAG 2.0, 2.1, 2.x guidelines

• Experience in Program Management

• Knowledge in Accessibility regulation, litigation, and complaints

• Experience with internal policy generation and governance

• Basic evaluation skills of web applications and mobile applications

• Experience in creating accessible electronic documents

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent

• Basic experience with assistive technology, such as a screen reader

 

Qualifications Preferred

 

The following are typically viewed as preferred abilities for any person in consideration for an Accessibility Manager role:

 

• Knowledge of 508 refresh compliance and VPAT

• Experience presenting and explaining recommendations for remediation

• Experience conducting usability testing with people with disabilities

• Experience training, mentoring, or advocating on accessibility topics

• Experience with accessibility and HTML, CSS, JavaScript

• Certifications/Credentials: IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)

• Certifications/Credentials: IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
