Our client, a leading financial services company is hiring an Engineering Manager on a long-term contract basis.

Summary:

  • In this position you will lead a motivated team of software engineers to architect, develop, test and deploy high quality software solutions with persistent customer focus.
  • Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments. Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Report on status of development and quality to management.
  • Build and maintain inter team relationships on your team’s behalf. Be the evangelist and point of contact for your team.
  • Share your knowledge with team members by reviewing code, collaborating on design documents and JIT feedback
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to identify, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity, code quality, automated testing, or other engineering best practices

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • At least 2+ years of experience managing a team of software engineers
  • 5+ years of software development in object-oriented languages
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
  • Experience in Large scale distributed systems
  • Deep understanding of software delivery methodologies, CI/CD and toolsets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software Engineering experience using Java/J2EE
  • Experience implementing Commercial P&C systems with Guidewire Policy Center
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment and effectively interact with technical and nontechnical workers
  • Consistent track record of delivery.
