Sr. BI Engineer (hands on role)

Our client, a leading reinsurance company is hiring a Sr. BI Engineer on a long-term contract basis.

Warren, NJ (Hybrid Option)

Summary:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

– Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
– Design and build data models, reports, visualizations and dashboards. Tackle business problems by converting raw data to meaningful and actionable business ideas
– Perform root cause analysis on issues and provide effective timely technology resolutions
– Explore and recommend additional analytical and reporting tools based on varying business scenarios for data consumption
– Craft and execute queries upon request for data. Present information through reports and visualization and identify areas of improvement to optimize data flows
– Work closely with Product Owner to create Product Backlog and facilitate Backlog Grooming and Release processes
– Work closely with Product Owner to document and understand User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
– Translate User Stories to ensure development team understands requirements
– Coordinated test plans and acceptance criteria
– Provide ongoing production support of our BI / Analytics applications (i.e. document, test, and implement & business user communication)

Required Work Experience and Qualifications:

– BA/BS Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education, training, and progressive experience.

– 7+ years experience in a data analytics or data engineering role

– Proficient in quantitative analysis, visualization and data modeling

– Experience in Business data and analytics solution development and implementation, including data warehouse development, dimensional modeling, ETL creation and troubleshooting

– Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets

– Proficient with the Microsoft stack and Cloud resources:

– Power BI

– Azure cloud services: Analysis Services, Data Factory, Synapse

– DAX

– Ability to leverage multiple tools and programming languages to analyze and manipulate data sets and build innovative solutions

– Insurance / Reinsurance industry experience highly desirable

– Experience in Agile software development highly desirable

– PBI

– AAS

– SQL

– SSIs

– ADF
